OFF TO THE UNKNOWN
Hello friends. So yesterday (Saturday), I had a day off work surprisingly, and so I was able to go forth with the homegirl Raisa's plan to hit up San Diego, along with Brian as well. This would then become...the 1st time I have ever traveled to the wonderland of San Diego, which means whale's vagina I believe? Ahahah (if you don't get that reference shame on you). Anyways, so after lagging it hard (seriously Filipino Time x3, lol), me and Brian finally reached our checkpoint, Raisa's new pad in Irvine, which in turn, is another 1st time for me as I have never stepped foot in Irvine yet in my life. Off to San Diego we went...first stop, Old Town.
BEHOLD! The Old Town San Diego sign!
UH OH! Sidetracked! I accidentally placed this pic in the wrong order and i'm too lazy to change it, before arriving to San Diego (after a shitload of traffic, a rest stop break cuz I had to piss real bad, fist-pumping with a car full of blondes in the lane beside us, and more traffic), which took a duration of about 2 hours, you encounter these babies...
The biggest pair of tits that are always nippy
It was mostly a bunch of gift shops and restaurants, each one offering a variety of different goods, mostly Hispanic-based, I mean, it is San Diego. A ceramic mug in the shape of a single breast where the nipple has a hole in it, with the words "Nutri-Leche" painted on it, was probably the most fascinating souvenir available, its too bad that I didn't buy it or took a picture of it because the shopkeeper was eyeing me.OK so back on track. So the first thing we hit up in San Diego was indeed Old Town. After Raisa busted an almost imposible feat (parallel parking her Toyota Highlander in seriously the smallest space ever), we explored the town in the scorching heat.
Hello
Encountered this pile o' rocks in the picture below at one of the gift shops. Made me and Raisa NOSTALGIA real hard. She said she used to collect rocks and shit when she was little, which related to me because I collected rocks too, but aside from that I had a passion of collecting fossils. I remember blowing the minds of my friends in elementary school when I bought this fish fossil (a small, bony fish embedded in a rectangular piece of sedimentary rock). What I did was during the 1st out of 3 recesses, I planted the fossil in the dirt where we usually play soccer. When 2nd recess came along, I went to that very spot, made a HUGE COMMOTION and called to all my friends to check out my awesome find. "OMGGGGGGG! DON YOU FOUND A FOSSIL! ITS PROBABLY WORTH A TON OF MONEY!" LOL, when in reality it was like $3.99 from that gift shop in Seattle. It was even funnier thinking that I found a solid-gray piece of sedimentary rock fossil in a patch of wet, damp, dark brown soil. LOL.
Brian's signature pose
Old Town San Diego is a place littered with Landmark zones and buildings. From the Old Adobe Chapel to the Whaley House, Old Town is a collection of Historic places.
One of the restaurants was VERY consistent with their bathroom checks as you can see
We encountered a lot of random things during our visit to Old Town, but not as random as these things seen below...
Random Toyota Tercel with matching Blue-Colored chrome rim hoops and windshield wipers
Apparently everyone loves the Carne Asada fries from this place, so of course we all gave it a shot. It was good, but not as good as Alberto's Super Carne Asada Fries in my honest opinion. After old town, we got in touch with the homie Mayo to come visit her. But after an ordeal and a fiasco and getting lost, seeing her pretty much was not an option anymore, so we decided to hit up one of the eateries SD (Chula Vista) is known for, Lolita's Taco Shop.
Cardiac Arrest time
Man did we fail really badly at this dish, me the most as usual. I probably got full after eating only about 20% of it LOL. It was funny because Brian, the Spaniard, didn't get guacamole or sour cream on his, so his plate was basically fries, cheese, and carne asada...so fucking dry and not Spaniard-like. You should have seen the face of the guy who took his order, it was probably the most mind-boggling thing that man encountered all day.
Brian getting high off air
After a quick visit from her friend Eugenie and boxing up our unfinished meals, we decided to go forth with Raisa's itinerary....watching INCEPTION. Now, me and Brian had already watched it during its midnight release, IMAX as well, and we we're so amazed by it that we totally agreed to watch it a 2nd time, it being her 1st time, IMAX format again. Let me just say, that I have never watched a movie twice in the theater in my life, and man was I glad to do it for this movie because you will seriously get things you missed while you were too busy trying to comprehend the other shit going on in this mind-fucking movie during the 1st time around, giving you an overall better understanding/grasp of the movie. But I feel like I can totally go for a 3rd helping.
Anyways, I'm not a movie critic but in the end, we did get to visit Mayo afterall (and I'm an idiot for forgetting to bring my camera when we did so I have no pics to show). She called us up and said to meet her up at her apartment, and man was it convenient that it was like 3 minutes away from the theater we decided to go to. So we got to chill with her and met her roommates, who are her fellow cooks/chefs in the workplace. They were all cool in their own way (even though it was a quick meet n greet) and they hooked it up with beers! Thanks guys! Highlight of the night was Mayo dying of laughter when playing around with my "BLEEP!" app on my Droid, which is a button that makes that BLEEP/CENSOR sound from tv/radio when cuss words are used haha.
After saying our goodbyes, we headed back to Irvine, and then back home to Downey. What a great day, an exhausting one too. Thanks for hooking it up with cheesecake, pizza, and the assortment of cupcakes Mayo! Til' next time!

KEG STANDS ALL DAY
Sup everybody. Lemme tell you about my past Friday night (better late than never). So my homie Francisco, who just came back from studying abroad for 2 years in Europe, hit me up to DJ his surprise party for his younger bro, Chuy. So of course, the awesome friend that I am, accept this request, because I love to DJ and keep the party going. Took place at the homie Brush's house, and everything was nicely set up; beer pong table with sign up sheet (smart idea by the way), cooler full of Sangria aka "Jungle Juice," and a nice circular table outside for the smokers. So the pre-partying began...
Fellow DJ Julio with what I think is the best invention of 2010
About an hour and a half into the pre-party, Francisco calls for the cue. So we shut down the music and lights, had everyone cramp up inside, and gave Chuy a big ol' surprise as he came in. "Man I was scared, felt like I was gonna get jumped," said Chuy. Immediately, he 1st act of the party that he promised was delivered, and that was his proposed keg stand...
Mission: Success
Chuy handled that stand for a pretty good amount of time, but that act wasn't just limited to him. Older bro Francisco aka FLAKER OF THE YEAR got in on the action too, as well as a bunch of other party-goers.
Cervante's (?) first keg stand, she was up there for about 30 seconds
So on went the party, and man was it a good time. Met a bunch of new peeps who were pretty cool, some even helping me out with that techno EDC kinda music selection since I'm not really deep in that music scene yet, but man did that shit get the party crackin even more. Pretty crazy when hardcore-vato looking gangster fools come up to you requesting some Aoki. Man was I surprised at how much the music scene has changed.
Perks of being DJ: Receiving free drinks all night
So this was an awesome night. Played from about 10pm to 3am, a good 5-hours straight, I was exhausted. NO trouble at all til the end of the party when these 3-unknowns wouldn't get the fuck out and kept talking shit, while this one fool kept trying to pull drunk chicks to the back yard to have his way with em, evidently failing though haha. After about an hour after the party ended, we finally got them out without shit going down, though one of them attempted to piss on one of the homie's cars. Glad nothing happened. Anyways, happy b-day again Chuy, hope you- actually, I know you had a blast haha. Well, my services will be over at Diego's this coming Saturday for his birthday. DJ Hadouken in the mix again!

DON VS. FOOD
**WARNING: THIS POST IS PICTURE HEAVY!**
Sup everybody! Today was a very filling day for me, especially after all this you are about to read today, I have just finished eating an entire bag of corn-chowder flavored potato chips right now as I am typing. Anyways, today started off with hanging out with my Big Sis Shari and my awesome cousins.
Me and Shari picked up my cousin Paulo (the grad from a couple posts back) and met up with our other cousins Erika and Jaclyn over at Orochon Ramen in Little Tokyo. Erika and Jaclyn (Ate Jax) just recently came back from a month-long trip to the Philippines, and have long been craving some delicious ramen, and so today was the big day. We just did what we usually do when we all hang out together: eat, talk shit, laugh at others, chat about the good/bad/drama going on in our lives, and of course talking about gross and inappropriate things while eating in a restaurant *cough cough - Ate Jax on the phone talking about periods all loud while our next seat neighbors are like inches away from you LOL* Couple fails today in the restaurant though (which is okay I guess because they were super busy as usual), but yeah they ran out of water to serve and they didn't bring out our order of fried rice til literally the end of our meal and chatter (which was about an hour in duration) and after about 2 reminders to our waitress.

Cousin Crew + Sis: Paulo, Shari, Erika, Jax
I've posted about my other trips to Orochon Ramen before on my blog, so I'm sure you are familiar with it, but if not...I'll give you a quick fact. Orochon Ramen recently hit the spotlight being featured on an episode on Man vs. Food (you might have seen it too), where the host attempted and conquered eating this restaurant's challenge dish, the SPECIAL #2, which is a big, super spicy-hot-as-flame bowl of Ramen, broth and all, in under 30 minutes. I, on the other hand, just wanted to enjoy my ramen and not burn off my tastebuds and make my mouth and stomach suffer, so I stuck with the opposite.
Every time us cousins finish up our ramen, we head to Mikawaya in the plaza across the street to get dessert, in our case Mochi. The A/C inside felt so bomb, especially because it was boosted due to this place being an ice cream shop...because seriously outside felt like baking in an oven.
Jax's choice: coffee mochi
After dessert, the girls headed to American Apparel and Popkiller while me and my fellow sneaker lover cousin Paulo headed to our sneaker shop of choice: RIF LA.
Homie wanted in on my blog
Again, I've posted about RIF LA in the past as well, but man has their business boomed since that time. They have so much shoes now that they seriously have stacks and stacks out on parts of the floor that was originally meant for walking space, and have also installed a couple more shelve-towers to store shoes on. They have so much inventory that they are currently not accepting used-shoes for 2 weeks.
Got baby? Put some heat on their feet with these Baby J's
As a kid, I was a huge Jordan fan (who wasn't?). Along with that, was love for his shoes. You weren't a cool kid unless you had Jordan's on your feet. In my childhood, I bought every Jordan shoe that came out that I could afford. Now in the present day and as a sneaker lover, I am not much of a Jordan head (unlike Paulo and my other older cousin Kuya Ry...who actually has a Jordan shrine...yes...an actual Jordan shrine no lie). But I will always remember my favorite pair of Jordan's, the Playoff 12's, the shoe in the pic below. My aunt had this picture of me holding up these shoes when I had em as a kid, and I've been meaning to recreate it by buying myself another pair (although she can't find the picture anymore).
Undefeated x Converse Poorman's Weapon: Seller's Price $120
Well, didn't buy any shoes in the end (as I just bought a pair yesterday), but I did support them by buying a shirt and jacket from their own line, which they made in collaboration with the neighbor store Archrival.
Okay, so after chilling with the family, something that has been in the works for the longest time finally happened...which was chilling with college friends OUTSIDE OF CAMPUS! Well, it's not as bad as I say it to be, I have hung out with college friends outside of campus before, but I am speaking plainly about something me and my friends Erica and Carol have been planning for a loooooooong time. After talk talk talk about all 3 of us hitting up Boiling Crab together, it just never actually happened over the past damn year, it was pretty much a bunch of "Okay for sure(s)!" and "Fuck yeah i'm down(s)!" but the event never actually occurring LOL. It wasn't until someone stepped up to really make it happen, and that person was me. Seriously, it wasn't until I created a virtual document on our walls on Facebook that required all of us to virtual sign that we agree that we were finally gonna FOR REALS THIS TIME GO THROUGH WITH A PLAN TO ALL MEET AND EAT AT BOILING CRAB AT THIS DATE AND TIME (today).
You've seen my posts before, and you know that at BC you can write on the walls (in the designated wooden areas at least). But you know, there will always be rebels...
Good job Madmel...
After meeting up @ 5pm, we got seated immediately (a surprising feat at BC) and got to ordering our food because we were fucking starving. They shared 1lb of shrimp with sausage and corn, while I devoured 1 lb of shrimp and 3 potatoes for myself, and we shared cajun fries. Once again, and for the 2nd time of the day, delicious restaurant food in my stomach! SATISFIED!
BC makes everyone happy
After somehow getting shrimp juice splash into my eye (I wear glasses too, really how the fuck did that happen?) and finishing our food, we didn't want to leave the day to just this, I mean we've been looking forward to this day of chilling for the longest time, so we decided to hit up Tea Station just down the street to relax the day away.
Mixed Fruit Tea Snow
So we spent the rest of the day here, seriously just chatting it up for a couple hours, seeing the sun go down and everything, which was quite refreshing. We talked about new phones, K-Town Jersey Shore, Carol's big move to Paris (in like 3 weeks), relationships, jobs, hipsters, clubbing, knock-off/bootleg Gucci bags, Inception, a whole bunch of shit. I love these two gals, you can talk to them about anything and the conversation will last all day, and they are just fun people to be around. But yeah the big topic of the night though was getting my lazy ass to get working on my portfolio to apply for the BFA program when Fall semester comes up. They made threats to me (very violent and disturbing, unforgiving ones)...and now I have been forced into applying, due to me being scared of them. Good job ladies...it just might work! Haha. At around 9:30, we decided to call it a night. Had a great day today guys, we will for sure hang out again soon! And for reals! LOL.
**BONUS**
See this sexy stick figure right here? LOL. He asked...Okay, I asked Erica and Carol what logo my hat was playing off of, and it was hilarious because in an instant after I asked they both shouted/pretty much blurted the correct answer out loud in unison while @ BC...seriously more synchronized than Olympic synchronized swim routines.
Question is...Do you know the answer?!
(Hint: It's a fast food restaurant...I probably didn't even need to give you that hint)
