Quickies

A quick, late-night out calls for a quick, late night bite to eat. Thank God that Jack in the Box drive-thru is 24 hours today.

Whenever and whatever I eat, I like to be prepared from the get-go so my meal does not get interrupted. What do I mean, you ask? Well, as you can see here, you will notice that alongside my Chicken Breast Strips I have 3 Buttermilk sauce cups and 1 BBQ sauce cup (substituting in for FRANK'S RED HOT SAUCE which they were out of, GOD DAMN IT!) open, lined-up and ready for dipping. This is so while I'm eating, I don't have to stop and open up cup after cup when each run out of sauce, therefore interrupting the flow of my meal. I'd have to put down my fry or chicken strip or burger or whatever I'm eating to do that task, and I'm not down for that. Same rules would apply with things like ketchup packets or hot sauce packets.

AND MOTHERFUCKER I DON'T FUCKING PLAY AROUND WHEN IT COMES TO MY SAUCE CUPS! See them shits? DRAINED TO THE BONE! It's hard to dip in them cups with fat ass strips of chicken, so I have to sometimes rip the strips into small pieces to be able to dip and scrape into the cups to get all the sauce possible. I'm a guy who needs sauce in every bite, and obviously lots of it. Also I didn't finish my fries because they were shitty, usually all late night fries are bottom of the barrel crap.

It's funny too because 2 of the employees who work the drive-thru at Jack in the Box know me and my ritual, so before they hand me my food, they always like "So 3 buttermilks and 1 Frank's right?"

Man am I unhealthy...

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Even though most of you are the same few people, but still, it's a great (underwhelming) achievement!

THE POCKY CHALLENGE

EY YO SUP EVERYBODY! Comin' right at you with some crazy shit here. *WARNING HUGE POST AHEAD* Anyways, this special event was 3 weeks in the making....and it is THE POCKY CHALLENGE!

So today I went to Little Tokyo with Kendall (also her first time there...so I kinda broke her in the awesomeness of Little Tokyo) and we went to the grocery stores and bought every single flavor of Pocky they had (except the POCKY GIANTS). Anyways, we came through with a total of 14 different flavors. Grand total = $30+. THAT'S DEDICATION JUST FOR A SINGLE BLOG POST!

The set-up....

Hola Cholas. It's Kendall with another one of Don's snack reviews. Again when he told me he wanted another review I was hesitant of what it could end up being. I've seen some of the snacks at Little Tokyo... dried fishies with their eyeballs removed... weird green stuff I don't even know. SCARY. Then when he told me it was Pocky I was like mmmm okay! Till he informed me there were 14 different flavors... My mind wandered with what they could be... nasty, horrible, odd stuff. It turned out to be okay though...until I couldn't take anymore 0_o

The Challenger.......KENDALL! *CROWD NOISES*

Every Pocky has their own personality shown by their packaging....

As well as their stick designs.....(with a few exceptions).

First Pocky of the bunch called "Gokuboso"...first of all, wtf is that supposed to mean? Oh well, took a bite. Pretty good, regular creamy milk chocolate taste. Tasted like the YanYan from my previous review.

Next was "Men's Bitter"... see I'm being manly and buff. I guess this is supposed to be dark chocolate but it ended up tasting just like the first one with a slight bitter aftertaste.

See... bitter, lol.

On to the next... "Original" mehh boring, right? This actually ended up being more bitter than the first. Still good I guess.

"Dessert: Chocolate Cake" I love me some chocolate cake, but this ended up tasting like really cheap, articifical frosting instead of cake. These fools are thick, I didn't even want to finish it.

Nom Nom Nom.

Ugh, next was "Dessert: Orange" I was hesitant to try this cause I don't like orange flavored anything... well except Orange juice and Orange Julius... whatever. Anyways, this shit was overwhelmingly orange, fuck this one. I couldn't even taste any chocolate. Pass.

"Dessert: Tiramisu" I don't even know what that is supposed to taste like, but I heard it was supposed to be delicious. This tasted like a Vanilla Frappuccino, which I don't really like but this was alright...

Next was "White Monte Blanc" basically white chocolate. I don't really know how to describe this one. Kinda sorta tasted like the Tiramisu one but not as strong. For some reason it had a buttered popcorn aftertaste, lol.

I didn't care for it too much.

Starting to get worn out! "Strawberry with Pieces" again tasted artificial but the strawberry pieces were surprisingly good, a bit crunchy, and really sweet.

Super sweet.....

On to "Almond Crunch" I hate almonds, so I didn't really want to try this one. It ended up not being so bad. Just tasted like chocolate with crunchy stuff.

Hesitant to take a bite...

Eh, next please.

Good ol' "Strawberry" playing it safe. This one I can do with no problem. Straight up artificial tasting, but creamy and delightful. Please disregard this picture, I think the Pocky was starting to get to me.

Walrus...?

"Milk"... I didn't want to try this one. For some reason all I could picture was a cow jizzing on a stick, even though that doesn't make any sense cause there jizz is not milk... anyways. This tasted like the filling of an Oreo except less sweet.

Taking in the cow jizz.... lol kidding.... wait that sounds nasty. SHHH.

OMG more Orange. "Mikan; Orange with Pieces" ugh at first this one tasted just like the first one but not as strong. After more bites though it just ended up tasting like Froot Loops.

OMG no more orangeeeee!

"Choco-Banana" smelled really good. I don't really care for bananas but this was really good. It tasted exactly like the banana Runts. No chocolate taste though.

Smells.. so... gooddddd....

Okay, so I absolutely hate Coconut. That's why I kept putting it off and it became last. I did not want to try this one at all. The texture of it just totally turns me off. Well this tasted exactly like what it's called.

Please, no more...

So, I thought I was done but then Don said to try all of them at once. I was down. 14 pockys at once!? Is there anything better in life...

Wow, okay this picture looks horribly bad. It was hard to shove em all in my mouth, please no dirtiness involved, lol.

OMG too much!

The taste? All I could taste was the stupid Orange one. Disgusting.

Too...much... Pocky.... need toilet *BARFS* gurihriworyoihfewnkewng. <--- my barfing noise.

EY Donny, I'ma be okay ^_^

The aftermath...

So this review was pretty fun. I like doing these. I like Pockys. I get the chocolate ones every now and then. My favorite had to be the banana one. It was super good. EY! Don is eating them right now. I'ma go slap him. Now he's laughing. Those fools are mine! Overall these are a good snack. They make me thirsty though. Anyways! I have to go barf some more... bye!

NostalgiaFAG Wednesday

In reality it's Thursday morning right now, but I'm one who considers it to be late-night Wednesday, hence the title NostalgiaFAG Wednesday. Anyways, I just want to welcome this as a new section of my blog. Every Wednesday from now on I will post something related to my past, as well as yours, to bring up good or bad memories, namely the awesome 90's.

For today's Nostalgic topic, I bring about the memories of a certain commercial, an anti-drug one to be exact. This commercial, to me, was a good one...and still is, because I say it worked on me...well, somewhat I guess. It didn't work as to making me drug free (as I've done my share of drugs and alcohol), but it worked as in the notion that it has deeply impacted my life, as in BECAUSE I STILL REMEMBER THE GOD DAMN TUNE TO THIS DAY!

If right now you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, you will pretty much know right about now. The commercial I am talking about portrays the life of bees, bees playing basketball. NOW YOU KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT RIGHT? DO I HAVE TO GO ON?! Yes, that commercial! You know, the one where this team of bees are minding their own business shooting some hoops, when all of a sudden a group of "drugged-up" bugs tries to ruin their day?

Well, if by now you still don't know what I'm talking about (and seriously if you don't then WTF?!), the tune went a lil' somthin' like this:

Just hanging on the court playin B-ball,
When these drugged up bugs came out from behind the wall.
They said, "You're no good! We're the best in this neighborhood!"
With no delay, the game got underway,
But the drugged up bugs were too high to play!
They couldn't even hold the ball, couldn't pass, couldn't shoot, couldn't score at all
(buzz)
That's the buzzer, time to quit, Home Bees 100, Drug Bugs zip!
The lesson here is so plain to see, DRUG FREE IS THE WAY 2 BEE!

Ok right now I'm just gonna accept that you know what I'm talking about now. The thing is, I pretty much remembered these lyrics the same as above (as I pulled it off of google), but I think there is a sentence missing somewhere. I think they also say "At school they thought they were cool, but now they ain't" somewhere in there, but I don't know where. Am i tripping or do you guys remember them saying that somewhere in the song as well?

Anyways, another point of this post is I'm asking if anybody at all has the video to this commercial. Can't find it on google, can't find it on Youtube...NOTHING NOWHERE! If you can seriously dig this up, I will reward you with a handsome prize.

HOPE YOU HAD A NOSTALGIC TIME!

Pho You!

As I was driving home from Long Beach today, for some reason, "I'M CRAVING PHO RIGHT NOW" ran through my mind. If you don't know what Pho is (pronounced fuh), it is a Vietnamese soup, with various meats and noodles. So anyways I rounded up a couple of my friends (Mark, Adrian, Dustin, and Jesse to be exact) and we headed to one of the usual places we go for pho.

This is Pho SAIGON, located right off South St. in Cerritos. It looks pretty weathered down but trust me the food is delish.

I always get the same thing, the #7, which is the rare steak pho. What happens is they put the steak in partially cooked and let the hot soup cook it the rest of the way. Also, I drizzled in some "chocolate sauce" as me and my friends call it, because it looks like chocolate. But in reality, its called "Hoison" sauce and I dunno, it just gives the soup a better flavor, kind of a sweet flavor.

Yes, I also got some eggrolls. MUST be dipped in the sweet sauce.

I still an amateur at using chopsticks (I usually ask for a fork but I didn't want to be a little bitch this time), so this shot took me a couple takes to get it right as I couldn't fucking grip the noodles long enough.

This is a finished pho dish...well kinda. I can only finish the bowl up to this point, I can never finish the soup as I am too full by this period. But, there is only ONE man that could, and his name is Mark.

What Has This World Come To?

So a woman customer bitched at me today because we didn't have Reese's Crunchy, only the regular ones. WOW. We are an electronics store not a candy shop you dumb bitch.

Eh?!

I haven't really blogged about my feelings for anything (aside from not updating in a few days), so this will be the first. The topic is: Work.

So, I've been working at Best Buy in Cerritos for almost 2 years now (come August) and it is kinda wearing me down now. I used to work there in 2005 but only as a seasonal employee, who then got laid off. But it was a fun first job experience. After being jobless in 2006, when August 2007 came around while my mom was in the Philippines for a year, I applied again as a seasonal. After the season was over, I was kept onboard, and here I am now, same position, selling the same things (Media Section: Selling video games, CDs, DVDs, MP3 players, house phones).

I've seen a lot happen at the store. First of all, the store changes (especially my section) like every month, seen a bunch of other seasonal hires come and go, seen a bunch of employees quit/get fired or move to another store, been through 2 General Managers already, and finally we just had a restructuring, which was a huge change.

Anyways, since it's Summer time now, and I'm working more than ever. Long shifts staying on my feet all day, walking around all day trying to do something so the day could pass by faster, and for the past few weeks I've been working all weekend (Friday all through Monday to be exact) so it's sorta kicking my ass...

Working makes me feel like this most of the time, especially to dumbass customers who are fucking ignorant, rude, or straight up clueless (It's also my face when I see the break room and how literally dirty/what a mess it is).

This is how I am when the store is dead, when I have very annoying/persistent customers, and during meetings since they take place so early in the morning.

There are the upsides to work though. It's cool when you get customers who really appreciate your help and are genuinely nice, and I have fun coworkers to work with. And lastly, it is awesome when cute and or hot girls/MILFs come into the store, that's when I notice me and my coworkers are most engaged in customer assistance. So this picture shows how I am when I help in these positive situations I just told you about.
